The Apple Festival
About the Event
Thousands of visitors jumped into the fall season at Mill Neck Family’s annual Apple Festival on Oct. 12 and 13. A long-standing tradition in the Long Island community since 1957, this year’s festival, which fully benefits children and adults who are Deaf, featured an exciting variety of new activities, rides, vendors and delicious food options for all.
Home to the Mill Neck Family of Organizations—committed to creating a world in which Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals are included, empowered, celebrated and embraced as equals through quality educational, employment, audiological and spiritual programs and services—this year’s festival was spectacular!
Boasting 12 different varieties of apples, Karl Ehmer specialty meats, free tours of the historic Mill Neck Manor which was recently restored and brought back to its ‘hey day’, rides and games, raffles and prizes, free hearing screenings from the Center for Hearing Health and much more, this special event raises funds to support the Deaf community locally and worldwide. The Apple Festival also showcases the latest in Deaf technology, sign language novelty items and books. Each year, Mill Neck Manor alumni attend the Apple Festival as a “homecoming,” with the event bringing the heart of the Long Island Deaf Community together.
A huge thank you to all of our attendees, sponsors, friends, family, staff and especially the hundreds of volunteers. This festival would not be possible without all of your dedicated support! You can still participate in our largest fundraiser, simply visit our donation page and make a contribution today!
Looking forward to seeing you for Apple festival next year on Columbus Day weekend October 10 and 11!
