CITI Church Interpreter Training Institute Austin 2019

Jesus Lutheran Church of the Deaf, 1307 Newton St., Austin, TX 78704

CITI teaches students to interpret the Word of God accurately, which is God’s means of life and salvation for His people.

Offers a unique opportunity for interpreters to learn church interpreting skills that are not taught in an Interpreter Training Program (ITP). Courses for this regional program include: ASL linguistics; religious vocabulary; Deaf culture; biblical studies; interpreting liturgy; hymns and songs: and opportunities to interpret in worship with evaluation.

The Deaf community is invited to join us for the afternoon sessions: lunch, Deaf Culture chapel and Bible study, which will be taught by a Concordia University theology professor.

Teaching Staff:
Mrs. Jennifer Ceyanes – LFD consultant and member of the Austin Deaf community
Rev. Thomas Dunseth – Director of LFD and co-director of CITI
Dr. Joel Heck – Professor of Theology at Concordia University Texas
